Alesandra Baca Vazquez

Alesandra is a recent Informatics graduate currently working as a research associate under Dr. Angela D.R. Smith. Her undergraduate honors thesis investigated the opportunities and challenges of ICTs for contemporary mutual aid, where she partnered with several non-profits and grassroots organizations in Austin to investigate the role of data and technology in their day-to-day work. She hopes to continue this work at a doctoral level. Her research interests include community leveraging of technology and data, grassroots movements, mutual aid, and data activism.
